WHAT IS CUBS ?
Every week (during Term time), our Cub Pack will gather to take part in lots of interesting and challenging activities – achieving anything they set their minds to and having lots of fun along the way. They are organised into smaller groups, called Sixes, where they learn about working together in teams.
Cubs will:
Cubs is run by trained adults, supported by Young Leaders (14 to 18 year old Explorer Scouts).
Around the age of 10 1/2 Cubs are able to move up into Scouts.
MEET THE TEAM
Volunteer leaders are traditionally nicknamed after characters in Rudyard Kipling’s novel, The Jungle Book. The lead Adult Volunteer is named Akela, after the wise leader of the wolf pack. Cubs have a number of adult volunteers and are supported by Young Leaders (14-18 year olds who often attend Explorer Scouts). They supervise activities, share their skills and keep everyone safe.
JENNY is our Cubs Team Lead volunteer. She initially started volunteering by coming along to a few evenings as a parent helper. Jenny says “I became an assistant leader in the Beavers section in 2021 and learnt wonderful skills and had tremendous fun! It’s great making new friends in my Scout family. From September 2023, I became a leader in Cubs. I now lead the section alongside my husband, John, and my fabulous parent volunteers 🙂”.
JOHN says “When I was younger I was in Cubs and Scouts. When the opportunity came up in September I jumped at the chance to pass on my skills to the next generation of Cubs. I enjoy running the pack with my wife, Jenny, and look forward to many enjoyable Wednesday nights.”
