1st Carnforth Scout Group

Everything you need to know about Carnforth Scouting and our amazing Base Camp

WHAT IS BEAVERS ?

Every week (during Term time), our Beaver Colony will gather to hop, skip and jump their way through lots of different games and activities – achieving anything they set their minds to, and having lots of fun along the way. They are organised into smaller groups, called Lodges, where they learn about working together in teams.

Going to Beavers is very different from going to school. Instead of learning from books, they figure the world out by exploring, playing and doing. The most important skills Beavers learn are the ones that will make them feel super strong standing on their own two feet and developing integrity, initiative & the courage to try new things.

Beavers is run by trained adults, supported by Young Leaders (14 to 18 year old Explorer Scouts).

Around the age of 8, Beavers are able to move up into Cubs.

MEET THE TEAM

Our qualified leaders will host a safe and secure programme aimed specifically at 6 and 8 year olds. These volunteers will supervise activities, share their skills and keep everyone safe. Beavers have a number of adult volunteers and are supported by Young Leaders (14-18 year olds who often attend Explorer Scouts).

KAREN is our Beaver Team Lead volunteer. She has been at 1st Carnforth since her son started at Beavers in 2021. Karen says “there are so many opportunities for adults in Scouts. Since starting I’ve completed my climbing permit, first aid training and made a whole lot of friends around the area. I came to Scouting from 10 years of lead volunteering at Brownies and Guides in Kendal, with several international trips and 75+ nights away! I love the ethos of both organisations and the skills for life it provides our young people, it’s totally worthwhile giving up my time for!

If you are interest in Volunteering then please speak to Karen or contact Becky on 07894 702 634 (email at rebecca.parker@lonsdalescouts.org.uk).

WHAT DO BEAVERS DO ?
